Joining an Organization
Organizations are the core of Zelo. Being a member of an organization means you help run its events — not that you take part as an external volunteer.
How membership works
An organization admin adds you using the email address of your Zelo account. You join right away, with the role the admin picked:
- Admin — runs the organization: members, settings and events.
- Coordinator — runs events: registrations, teams, shifts and timesheets.
There are no email invitations yet, so create your Zelo account first and give the admin the email you signed up with. You can also create your own organization from Organizing mode and become its admin.
Volunteering vs. membership
| Volunteer (external) | Member (admin or coordinator) | |
|---|---|---|
| How you join | Register for a specific event | Added by an admin |
| Scope | Per-event | Whole organization |
| Can register for org events? | Yes | No — you help organize them instead |
If you want to volunteer for a one-off event without joining an organization, simply register for that event directly. You do not need to be a member.
Leaving an organization
Ask an admin of the organization to remove you from its Members tab.
An organization always keeps at least one admin. If you are its only admin, promote someone else to Admin before you're removed.
